Kate Portland

Kate Portland serves as Senior Vice President and Practice Leader, Private Equity and Investment Banking at Slone Partners. She has more than 20 years of experience in recruiting, executive search, investment banking, and healthcare consulting. At Slone Partners, Kate is responsible for investor, healthcare, and life sciences client development and search execution.

Prior to joining Slone Partners, Kate was the Head of Executive Talent at Water Street, a Chicago-based private equity firm dedicated to investing in the healthcare and life sciences sectors. In this role, she was responsible for recruiting the leaders for the firm’s portfolio companies and executive advisors to the firm. Previously, Kate was the Vice President of Human Capital at GTCR where she oversaw human resources and recruiting for the investment teams. Kate also served in several leadership roles at Citadel Investment Group, which included spearheading recruiting for Surveyor Capital, the Client & Partner Group, and the Equity Quant Coverage teams. She previously founded and ran her own executive search firm, Venautics, dedicated to the asset management industry. She also spent time as an investment banking analyst at both Goldman Sachs and Citigroup. Kate began her career in healthcare consulting.

Kate currently resides in Chicago with her dog Peyton but will always be a diehard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. In her free time, she enjoys exercise, attending as many musical theatre productions as she can, and improving her very amateur golf game.

Kate holds a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with concentrations in Finance and Healthcare Management.
